External Events and News
At our offices, we often get to hear of events, news or resources which, although not Baptist in origin or emphasis, may be of interest to those in our churches. We hope to include information on some of these in this section of our website.
American Jazz in Glasgow Schools
The Metro Big Band, a team of prominent Jazz musicians from the USA, is coming to Scotland for concerts and to do community outreach in schools in Glasgow and surrounding area and they would appreciate prayer support as they do so.
Their programme contains workshops/concerts at schools then evening concerts, usually in the same geographical area, so the children can take along other family members.
Everyone is welcome at the evening concerts - admission FREE.
The five schools are:-
Blairdardie Primary School, Knightswood 6th June
Drummore Primary School, Drumchapel 6th June
Harestanes Primary School, Kirkintilloch 7th June
Antonine Primary School, Drumchapel 8th June
Drumchapel High School, Drumchapel 8th June

'The Commission' Men's Conference
This is to be held in Glasgow's Royal Concert Hall on Saturday 1st September 2012, from 9:30am to 5:30pm, tickets £28 for the full day (price includes tea/coffee but NOT lunch). The 2012 theme is 'Blending In, Standing Out' and the main speaker will be Terry Virgo, with praise led by Pete James and his band. Three Seminars will be on offer: "Homosexuality; Grace and Truth"; “New Atheism – New Opportunities?” and “Reclaiming Worship”.

Running a Community Festival
Thinking ahead to the opportunities that will arise through the Olympics in 2012 and the Commonwealth Games in 2014, Chris Plews, the Churches Commonwealth Games Coordinator, in conjunction with the Church of Scotland Church Without Walls team, is promoting a training event on running a community festival.
