Xtend is a 12-month volunteer scheme where we can place a couple of youths in a church for a year to help them develop the work and ministry that they are offering to children and young people in their community. They are given a basic living allowance through funding from Project Scotland.
Step Out This is the summer mission programme of the Baptist Union. We organise teams of youth to go and help a church with its mission activities for a week of the summer (traditionally with a Children's holiday club and youth activities). Team members attend a training weekend in June where they get basic training and meet their team mates. It's an outstanding opportunity for young people to grow in their faith and serve God. We have added another volunteer project to this recently - Step Out + (three months over the summer), where we can provide (through Project Scotland funding) the volunteers with a basic living allowance in return for doing this.
Roadshows We have a couple of Roadshows that have a mission emphasis. One is a promotion and recruitment event for Step Out where you can discover what it is like to be involved and see if it is right for you. The other is an event of high activity, involvement and fun where the Gospel will be clearly communicated in relevant terms to young people.
MEGA Weekend this is a weekend where youth are given quality teaching on many of the topics that they find difficult to talk to their friends about (e.g. Creation v Evolution, other faiths, the Bible, etc).
